The match

An electric atmosphere is expected in this Group K finale of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, with Colombia boasting a high-flying attack capable of leaving defenders weak in the knees. The South Americans are sure to have plenty of support inside of Miami Stadium, as will a Portugal team with headliner Cristiano Ronaldo and plenty of others who can set the table for a title run.

After victory over Uzbekistan in their first fixture, Nestor Lorenzo’s men clinched qualification for the Round of 32 as one of the top two teams with a 1-0 win over DR Congo. Portugal, meanwhile, are looking to kick on after following up their 1-1 draw with DR Congo with a 5-0 hammering of Uzbekistan.

The winner of Group K will face the third-place team from Group D, E, I, J or L at Kansas City Stadium on 3 July, while the group runner-up will take on the Group L runner-up at Toronto Stadium on 2 July. The third-place team from Group K could potentially go up against the winner of Group L at Atlanta Stadium on 1 July.

What they said…

“We know Portugal has a great team, a great coach, and we can’t leave anything to chance. Portugal is a well-established team, so I think it will be a great match. We’re going to maintain our style, our essence of play, even though we’re facing an opponent with different characteristics. They play a mid-block, possession-based game that knows how to break through to finish attacks. They’re very well-organized, have a great coach, and their entire squad is elite”. Nestor Lorenzo, Colombia coach

“The match against Colombia actually began back in March for us, when we faced Mexico. We’ve already had 13 training sessions here in Miami, and the plan was to stay here to prepare for the Colombia match —taking into account the pitch and the stadium’s characteristics. This is the match we have prepared for the most.” Roberto Martinez, Portugal coach
