Ecuador’s Golden Generation tipped to shine

La Tri have assembled the most talented squad in their history and are being backed to have a deep run in the tournament.

Ecuador arrive at the FIFA World Cup 2026 with great expectations.

They have only ever reached the knockout phase once before – and that was 20 years ago.

But their current football squad has been dubbed the ‘Golden Generation’, and only defending champions Argentina finished ahead of them in South American qualifying.

With their talented team, La Tri will be confident of at least getting out of a group containing Germany, Côte d’Ivoire and Curaçao. But many observers are backing them to go much further.
