Ben White has left England’s FIFA World Cup squad to return home for personal reasons.
The FA released a statement confirming the news, adding: “The Arsenal defender is not expected to return to the squad for the remainder of the tournament. We ask that the player’s privacy is respected at this moment in time.”
The 25-year-old, who can play at centre-half and right-back, has been in fine form for the Gunners this season but did not feature in any of England’s three group-stage matches.
