The Lions of Mesopotamia are back at the tournament for the first time since Mexico 1986, when they lost all three of their games.
Forty years on from Mexico 1986, Iraq are back at a FIFA World Cup in North America.
On their debut appearance on the global stage, the Lions of Mesopotamia lost all three of their group games.
But they will hope to improve on that performance on their second outing at the tournament, with matches to come against France, Norway and Senegal.
The Asian nation also have football World Cup experience in their dugout in the shape of Graham Arnold, who was in charge of Australia at Qatar 2022.
