Bosnia and Herzegovina looking to break new ground

After stunning Italy in their qualifying playoff final, Sergej Barbarez’s side are hoping to make it through to the knockouts for the first time.

Bosnia and Herzegovina will contest the FIFA men’s World Cup for just the second time in their history, 12 years after making their debut in Brazil.

They qualified for the 2026 tournament in dramatic style, beating four-time champions Italy on penalties in their playoff final after also coming through the semi-finals against Wales on a shootout.

Now Sergej Barbarez’s side will be looking to progress into the round of 16 for the first time, having been drawn in a group containing Switzerland, co-hosts Canada, and 2022 hosts Qatar.
