Having lifted the FIFA World Cup in 2018 before missing out on penalties four years later, France are back for another shot at a third star.
France go into the 2026 FIFA men’s World Cup as the top-ranked nation in the world.
Even without the validation of the men’s football rankings, the 2018 champions have an abundance of quality in pursuit of their third world title.
This will be the final tournament for coach Didier Deschamps, one of only three men to lift the World Cup as both a player (in 1998) and a manager (2018).
The two-time champions are in Group I with African giants Senegal, Erling Haaland’s Norway and Iraq, who are returning to the big stage after 40 years.
